Why did we establish Docspert Health ?

Prof. Hisham Mehanna

Hisham is a world-renowned head and neck cancer surgeon, working in Birmingham, UK. He has a keen interest in innovation and research, and his research has changed clinical practice globally in the field of head and neck cancer. He also has a lot of experience in senior leadership and management roles, and is currently deputy pro-vice chancellor of one of the largest universities in the UK and is the director of a large institute with over 300 academics.

Hisham is also a serial digital health entrepreneur and is passionate about making the best healthcare available to everyone, regardless of where they live, through digital health. So, he co-founded Docspert Health to provide second medical opinions from international medical experts in the UK, USA, and Europe to patients in the Middle East and Africa. The idea originated from his observations of the benefits, but also the difficulties and expense, that patients from the Middle East experienced when coming to consult him as a head and neck cancer surgeon in the UK.

Richard Haywood

Richard Haywood is an alumnus of the UoB, having graduated in law in 1977. Richard is a corporate lawyer by training, having worked as a partner at the City law firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP and, before that, Wragge & Co (now Gowling WLG). Richard advised corporates in a variety of sectors for over thirty years, with a particular focus on M & A and joint ventures. He now takes on roles as an investor in, non-executive director, and chairman of private equity-backed businesses. He is currently non-executive Chairman of Clarilis Limited, a Legaltech businesses and an NED of Asterisk Network Solutions, a Fintech business.

Richard has also been a lay member of the Council since 2012 and the Deputy Pro-Chancellor since November 30th, 2014. In addition, he served for four years as a non-executive director of Birmingham Royal Ballet between 2002 and 2006 and has also served as an NED of CloserStill Group and a non-executive Chairman of Mobica Holdings Limited.

Dr. Ahmed Elkamisi

Ahmed, despite his younger years, has done a lot. He is a fully qualified clinician, has also worked in medical insurance, and is the founder of Atbaa, an NGO with over 300 members that is considered one of the largest and most influential medical student initiatives in Egypt. Ahmed is an ex-handball player as well.

Mohamed Hatem

Mohamed is passionate about finding technological solutions to solve people’s problems, and that is why he was attracted to the idea of Docspert Health. Mohamed has been developing IT solutions since the age of 15, and has worked professionally as a freelance developer for the past ten years.
