He is also a Professor of Medicine at Universidad Europea de Madrid. His practice combines tertiary-level clinical work with leadership of robotic surgery programs.
His clinical focus is robotic head & neck surgery—particularly transoral robotic surgery (TORS)—and remote-access/robotic thyroid surgery. He has implemented and trained teams on robotic platforms, including the Versius system, and regularly shares program-building experience through professional forums.
Prof. Granell’s scope of practice spans oncologic and functional procedures of the oropharynx and larynx, parotid and salivary-gland surgery, voice surgery, and sleep-apnea surgery. He also manages complex head & neck pathology with organ-preservation strategies aimed at maintaining speech and swallowing.
He contributes to the literature on robotic thyroid and head-and-neck surgery, including feasibility and technique papers, and participates in international meetings such as the Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery (APTS) programs on remote-access surgery.
