Dr. Amirhossein Mahdavian is a senior consultant in pediatric neurology with more than 20 years of clinical experience in Sweden. He currently serves as a clinical lead at the Habilitation Center Skåne. Since 2010, he has worked in leadership roles within child neurology and habilitation services, previously serving as Medical Director in the Department of Pediatrics at Gävle Hospital, with responsibility for pediatric inpatient and outpatient care, subspecialty neurology, and residency training.
He is also the editor and content lead of “Neuropedia Consult,” an evidence-based pediatric neurology knowledge platform for clinicians, reflecting his ongoing work in education and clinical standardization.
Dr. Amirhossein Mahdavian is a senior consultant pediatric neurologist with longstanding expertise in diagnosing and managing complex neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders in children. Since 2010 he has been based in Sweden’s public healthcare system, with a central role in habilitation services that support children with long-term neurological disability, including motor impairment, communication disorders, behavioral-neurological syndromes, and global developmental delay.
At the Habilitation Center Skåne, where he has practiced since 2010, he serves as a clinical lead in pediatric neurology, assessing and managing children with severe and multifactorial neurologic conditions. His work there is multidisciplinary by design: he collaborates with physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, developmental psychologists, and special education services to build comprehensive, individualized care programs.
From 2014 to 2018, he also served as a senior consultant in pediatric neurology at the Habilitation Center in Gothenburg, focusing particularly on neurodevelopmental and neurogenetic disorders. In that role he contributed to regional coordination of care, improving pathways for children with rare syndromes, suspected inborn errors of metabolism, and complex learning and behavioral phenotypes linked to neurological dysfunction.
In parallel, he held progressively senior leadership responsibilities at the Department of Pediatrics in Gävle Hospital, Sweden, ultimately serving as Consultant and Medical Director. In that position, he supervised the pediatric neurology service and the local Child Habilitation Center, covered both inpatient and outpatient pediatric care, and was responsible for training pediatric residents.
Beyond clinical work, Dr. Mahdavian is active in clinician education. He is the editor and content lead of “Neuropedia Consult,” an online platform in pediatric neurology that curates and delivers evidence-based guidance for practicing clinicians. This role reflects his interest in standardizing high-quality neurological assessment in children and helping other pediatricians recognize complex neurologic patterns on MRI, at bedside, and in long-term developmental follow-up.
