Fong James Wong is a highly experienced consultant endocrinologist with over 30 years of practice in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practice, and medical litigation. He has a deep understanding of endocrinology and has given lectures and published abstracts on a range of topics, including diabetes, thyroid disease, and osteoporosis. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Australian Endocrine Society, American Endocrine Society, and American College of Physicians.
Dr. Wong's expertise spans a wide range of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, and reproductive disorders. He has a particular interest in diabetes and has published on the roles of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists in type 2 diabetes, as well as on Graves' disease and type 1 diabetes.
Fong James Wong is a consultant endocrinologist with extensive experience in the field. He has been working as a consultant endocrinologist at St John of God Hospital in Bunbury, Rockingham Specialist Centre, and as a medical consultant for independent expertise advice for TMLEP in cases of medical litigations since July 2019. Prior to this, he worked as a consultant endocrinologist at Launceston General Hospital in Tasmania from 2018 to June 2019, and as a consultant endocrinologist in Perth, WA from November 2015 to December 2017. He also worked as a private endocrinologist in Florida, USA from August 1998 to October 2015.
Dr. Wong completed his endocrinology fellowship at The George Washington Medical School from July 1990 to June 1992. During this time, he gained experience in daily outpatient endocrine clinics in diabetes, lipid clinic, and general endocrinology. He also performed inpatient consultations at George Washington Hospital, Washington Hospital Centre, and Veterans Hospital. Dr. Wong has experience in dynamic testing, including insulin tolerance test, glucose suppression test, dexamethasone suppression test, and water deprivation test. He participated in weekly journal clubs and endocrine grand rounds, and worked with type 1 diabetic children in Maryland.
Dr. Wong completed his residency in internal medicine at The Johns Hopkins Health System in Baltimore, Maryland from July 1987 to June 1990. During this time, he rotated through various departments, including pulmonology, nephrology, cardiology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, and endocrinology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He also worked as a senior house officer at Auckland Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand from November 1985 to June 1987.
Dr. Wong has given lectures to general practitioners and medical students on various topics related to endocrinology. He has given lectures on the roles of SGLT2 inh and GLPlRAs in type 2 diabetes, ASCVD, and heart failure, as well as on Graves' disease and management, and type 1 diabetes and complications. He has also given lectures on diabetes to general practitioners and internists in Ocala, Florida. Dr. Wong has published abstracts on topics such as the 1-57 amino acid N-terminal flanking peptide of human calcitonin and hemocrine secretion by pulmonary neuroendocrine cells.
