Doctor Kirana Arambage is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Specialist in Advanced Minimal Access Gynaecology/Endometriosis at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. He works at the BSGE-accredited Endometriosis centres at the Endometriosis Care and Research Centre at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford where he contributes to
provide excellent care to those suffering from endometriosis and other gynaecological conditions with the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
He has completed the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in Advanced Laparoscopic/Hysteroscopic Surgery. He got his MSc in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopy, at the University of Surrey, UK in 2014. He is the author of 15 scientific papers and book chapters including the latest Cochrane review of the surgical treatment of endometriosis and European guidelines in operative hysteroscopy and laparoscopic surgery.
Doctor Arambage graduated from Sri Lanka in 2002. He completed his postgraduate medical training in London, Eastern and Oxford postgraduate deaneries and entered GMC specialist registry in the UK after successful completion of his CCT. He also completed the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists specialist training in Advanced Laparoscopic / Hysteroscopic Surgery at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford University between 2012 – 2014. Mr Arambage won BSGE and RCOG Bernhard Baron traveling fellowship to train in centers of excellence in France (Strasbourg, Rouen) and in Australia (Royal Women's Hospital – Melbourne).
Mr Arambage is the Honorary Secretary of the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy from March 2021.
He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Oxford, and a Consultant Gynecologist at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford University. He led the gynecological simulation training in Oxford deanery from 2016-2021, introducing many different training programs and streamlining the training across the region.
He is a co-author of the latest Cochrane review of the surgical treatment of endometriosis. He has also co-authored European guidelines regarding distension media in hysteroscopic surgery and the RCOG consent guidelines for laparoscopic surgery.
