Dr. Monksfield graduated from Manchester University Medical School in July 1997. He undertook an Elective in Emergency Medicine, St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, Australia during his years as a medical student. Dr. Monksfield undertook ENT training in Oxford, London and completed higher surgical training in Birmingham and the West Midlands, UK. Following this, he undertook advanced fellowship training in Neuro-otology and cochlear implant surgery at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital and the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Monksfield has been a consultant ENT surgeon at the University Hospitals Birmingham since 2010 and performs all aspects of ear surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is a clinical supervisor for higher surgical trainees and he performs regular teaching sessions for medical students and teaches on several post-graduate courses. Dr. Monksfield has strong research interest and runs several research studies on implanted hearing devices. He regularly lectures both locally and globally and has written many peer-reviewed papers.
