Dr Hesham is currently a Consultant neuropsychiatrist at KITE-regional brain injury rehabilitation centre, Southampton, UK. Also he is a senior clinical lecturer at the Brighton and Sussex School of medicine, University of Sussex as well as the Academic Secretary of the Royal College of Psychiatrists South East Division, UK. Research-wise, he has been the primary investigator for several national studies. and was the responsible officer of the CL2 laboratory at College Keep campus, University of Southampton. He also presented in regional, national and international meetings/conferences. The audience group varied from students, qualified doctors and expert groups.
Dr Hesham graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, Egypt in 2002. He then gained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and completed Doctor of Medicine degree in Clinical Neurosciences from University of Southampton.
He gained competencies working in different Neuropsychiatric settings, acute; post-acute; inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient community-based settings. This included assessment and management of various Neuropsychiatric conditions, post-neurosurgery; ABI; functional neuropsychiatric disorders; neurodegenerative conditions; Huntington’s disease and specialist neuro-developmental clinic. He also had the experience of working in a tertiary anxiety disorders clinic.
He is currently a Consultant neuropsychiatrist at KITE-regional brain injury rehabilitation center, Southampton, UK (since April 2020). There, he works collaboratively with his MDT via a patient-centered approach, to provide assessments and management for patients with brain injuries. In his outpatient clinic, he undertakes assessment, follows up and treatment for patients with neuropsychiatric disorders (functional disorders, neurodegenerative, and brain injury). In this clinical role, he also provides consultation/liaison psychiatry services to inpatients at the University Hospital of Southampton, UK. His outpatient clinic caseload also includes a variety of common and complex enduring psychiatric conditions. He undertakes assessment and treatment for patients with affective disorders (anxiety, depression), psychotic illnesses, ADHD, and psychiatric disorders comorbidly existing with physical health issues and sexual dysfunction.
Dr Hisham is a senior clinical lecturer at the Brighton and Sussex School of medicine, University of Sussex as well as the Academic Secretary of the Royal College of Psychiatrists South East Division, UK. He has been the primary investigator for several national studies including a study of the impact of depression on the
lives of people with depression and on the family and friends and a study on endocrine and paracrine disturbances in anxiety disorders. He was the responsible officer of the CL2 laboratory at College Keep campus, University of Southampton. He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals, including Case Reports, book Chapters, Abstracts, Letters, and Posters.
He also presented in regional, national and international meetings/conferences. Among those were: RCPsych faculty of neuropsychiatry annual conference, London, UK, Southern Health Annual Research Conference, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust amd Manchester mental Health Trust.
