Prof. Lohmeyer studied at the Hannover Medical School as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation, parts of which also in Sydney and Toronto. After working in private practice with Prof. Dr. Berger, Prof. Dr. Lohmeyer worked in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital Lübeck between 2003 and 2007 before moving to the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich in 2008. Since then, Prof. Lohmeyer has been a faculty member with a teaching assignment in plastic and aesthetic surgery at the Technical University of Munich. Since 2013, Prof. Dr. Lohmeyer has been working at the Agaplesion Diakonieklinikum Hamburg.

Prof. Lohmeyer is a Fellow of the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (FEBOPRAS). He has received awards and scholarships from the European Society of Plastic Surgery and the Technical University of Munich, among others. He is the author of over 70 national and international publications. Due to his clinical and scientific achievements, Prof. Lohmeyer was included in the advisory board of the journal Hand Surgery, Microsurgery, Plastic Surgery.

He is a member of the DGPRÄC, ESPRAS (European Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery), Interplast e.V., the German Society for Senology, the DGH (German Society for Hand Surgery) and the DAM (German-speaking Working Group for Microsurgery).
