Dr. Malviya is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
He has developed Northumbria as one of the premier centres for young adult hip surgery.
He is the highest volume hip preservation surgeon in the North East and amongst the top in the country.
He regularly teaches national and international hip preservation courses and he is the author of various scientific publications.
Dr. Malviya is specialized in treating the disorders of the young adult hip. He trained in the Northern Deanery and has done specialist fellowships in hip preservation and joint replacement surgery in Cambridge, London and Switzerland.
He has developed Northumbria as one of the premier centres for young adult hip surgery which attracts tertiary referrals from across the region and nationally. The number of complex pelvic hip preservation surgery done annually is the highest in the united kingdom and at par with most famous international centres.
He has introduced new techniques using minimally invasive means, advanced arthroscopic procedures and careful monitoring of outcomes. He has valuable contributions in all aspects of research, is involved in a large volume of scientific publications, and has won several national and international awards.
Dr. Malviya was elected as the Chairman of the UK National Non-Arthroplasty Hip Registry (NAHR) affiliated with the British Hip Society in 2020, the Chairman of the Research Education Committee for SICOT - International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology and as Deputy Chair of the Research Committee for ISHA - International Hip Preservation Society.
