Doctor Alvin Wells graduated from the University of South Florida medical school in 1996. He trained in Internal Medicine and in Rheumatology at Duke University, North Carolina, US, where he was a faculty member before joining Abbott Laboratories.

Doctor Alvin Wells is a Rheumatology fellow in Franklin, Wisconsin, US.

He received his Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of South Carolina, US.

Doctor Wells is currently a practicing rheumatologist at the Rheumatology and Immunotherapy Center in Franklin, Wisconsin, where he serves as the Director. He is a Visiting Professor at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He also maintains his clinical affiliation with Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, the US where he is an Adjunct Assistant Professor.

He was a recipient of the prestigious Fogarty Biomedical Research Award from the National Institutes of Health, which allowed him to undertake a 2- year postdoctoral fellowship at Uppsala University, Sweden, with Professor. Lars Klareskog.
