Prof. John Browning is an accomplished pediatric dermatologist based in Texas. He serves as President of Texas Dermatology and Laser Specialists and Chief of Dermatology at Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. A graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch, he completed his fellowship in Pediatric Dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine. His expertise spans pediatric dermatology and vascular anomalies, with extensive research in conditions like epidermolysis bullosa. A leader in professional societies, he has received awards for his clinical and academic contributions.
Prof. John Browning, M.D., F.A.A.D., F.A.A.P., MBA is Board Certified in Pediatrics, Dermatology, and Pediatric Dermatology. He is an adjunct associate professor at UT Health San Antonio, an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, and clinical faculty at UIW School of Medicine. His experience extends to more than 20 years.
Prof. Browning obtained his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, honors program, graduating manga cum laude; he then received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed residencies in pediatrics and dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, serving as chief resident of dermatology. He also completed a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Texas Children’s Hospital. Lastly, Prof. Browning graduated from the physician executive MBA program at Auburn University.
Prof. Browning has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating skin conditions in patients of all ages and loves treating families. He is skilled in laser surgery for treating a variety of skin conditions. He also enjoys surgical management of benign and malignant skin conditions, utilizing general anesthesia at a surgery center or hospital when needed. One of his interests includes the use of superficial radiotherapy (SRT) for treating keloids and hypertrophic scars. He also has a special interest in tropical medicine and spent some time training at the Dermatology Institute in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Prof. Browning is a principal investigator in a number of clinical research trials and has helped bring many cutting-edge medications to the market.
Before opening a private dermatology practice in 2013, Prof. Browning was full-time faculty at UT Health San Antonio. He continues training dermatology and primary care residents, encouraging the next generation of physicians to provide quality care in diagnosing and managing skin disease.
