Dr. med. David Sher-Khan Marghawal is the Chief of Urology (Chefarzt) at Krankenhaus Reinbek St. Adolf-Stift, where he co-leads the department with Dr. Claus Brunken. He joined Reinbek in October 2022 and has spearheaded the robotic surgery program using the da Vinci Xi system, supported by state and federal funding.
He trained in medicine at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, with clinical rotations in Malta, South Africa, and Germany, and completed urology residency at Franziskus Hospital Bielefeld. He obtained board certification in Urology in 2010, added the designation in systemic tumor therapy in 2011, and later qualified in focused genetic counseling (2016).
From 2011 to 2022 he advanced at Asklepios Klinik Altona (Hamburg) from Consultant to Lead Senior Consultant, directing specialized clinics in continence/pelvic floor & neurourology and co-leading the uro-oncology day clinic’s systemic therapy service. Since 2017 he has been a certified console surgeon in robotic surgery.
His clinical interests include urologic oncology across the genitourinary spectrum, continence and pelvic floor surgery including prosthetics and neurourology, reconstructive urology, endourology, and robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery. He has authored peer-reviewed publications, including in Urologia Internationalis, Urologe A, and Aktuelle Urologie, and contributes to urologic textbooks.
