Dr. Manuel Tafalla Navarro is a Spanish consultant plastic and aesthetic surgeon with more than two decades of practice, operating clinics in Spain and providing services internationally. His work centers on rhinoplasty (including complex and revision cases), facial rejuvenation, breast surgery, and large-volume three-dimensional liposculpture. He has presented internationally (ISAPS) on nasal reconstruction in cocaine-related defects and has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed publications, including on neurocutaneous sural flaps. He was named Académico Numerario by the Ilustre Academia de Ciencias de la Salud Ramón y Cajal in 2018 and received the Spanish Association of Image Professionals’ Gold Medal the same year.
Dr. Tafalla earned his medical degree from the University of Alicante, obtained a national MIR residency post in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, and completed doctoral coursework in Anatomy and Surgical Pathology. Early training included rotations in ICU, trauma/orthopedics, general and vascular surgery, as well as ENT and dermatology. He broadened his exposure in leading Spanish units (Clinic of Barcelona; Bellvitge) and abroad (Canniesburn Hospital, Glasgow).
Since 2000, he has directed his own plastic surgery institute in Alicante, performing a broad range of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures. He later served at VITAE Medical Center (Murcia), Dorsia Clinics (Alicante/Elche), Corporación Dermoestética (multiple cities), and Menorca’s Clinical Center in Madrid; he has led breast reconstruction programs in Marbella and consulted in Riyadh and Dubai.
His subspecialty focus includes complex rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction (including cocaine-related defects), comprehensive facial rejuvenation, and body contouring with three-dimensional liposculpture. He has presented at ISAPS Congresses (Rio 2014; Kyoto 2016) on compounded allografting for nasal reconstruction and has taught liposuction advances at the University of Barcelona.
Dr. Tafalla’s academic output includes co-authored publications on pediatric toxic epidermal necrolysis, nasal dermoid sinus, chest-wall chondrosarcoma, and neurocutaneous (distally based sural) flaps for lower-limb reconstruction. In recognition of his career, he was appointed Académico Numerario (2018) and received the Gold Medal from the Spanish Association of Image Professionals.
