About the expert
Professor Rizzari is a professor of pediatrics and he is currently the head of the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Unit at the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Milano-Bicocca. He participated in the development of chemotherapy protocols for childhood leukemia. His research focuses on optimizing chemotherapy protocols and developing innovative drugs for resistant or relapsing leukemias and lymphomas.

Prof. Rizzari is the Head of the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Unit at the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Milano-Bicocca which is one of the largest centers for the diagnosis and treatment of hematological malignancies in Italy. He is involved since the late 80ies in the field of pediatric leukemias with particular expertise in the area of cancer chemotherapies in Italy.
Prof. Rizzari’s main research interests are pediatric leukemias and cancer chemotherapy. He contributed to developing a number of chemotherapy protocols for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Professor Rizzari is also the author and co-author of 131 peer-reviewed publications and over 200 abstracts accepted for poster or oral presentation. He is a known speaker at several national and international meetings and workshops in the field of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
Professor Rizzari is a member of the AIEOP National Board (Italian Association for Paediatric Professor and Oncology) and Chairman of the AIEOP Clinical Pharmacology Committee, aiming to improve the knowledge and availability of innovative anti-cancer drugs in the country. He is an active member of other several scientific and steering international committees
He holds the position of principal investigator for Academia driven studies involving innovative drugs for resistant or relapsing leukemias and lymphomas.
