Prof. Daniele Avenoso, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor in Haematology at the University of Brescia and Spedali Civili di Brescia, Italy. He trained in medicine, surgery, and specialist haematology at the University of Genoa, Italy. His clinical work focuses on haematological malignancies, allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, CAR-T therapy, graft-versus-host disease, VOD/SOS, and bone marrow failure disorders. He serves as Director of the Speciality Training Programme in Haematology at the University of Brescia, Italy. Prof. Daniele Avenoso, MD, PhD, graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy. He completed specialist training in Haematology at the same university, and later completed a PhD in translational haematology.
His professional career has been centred on haematology, transplantation, and cellular therapy. He worked as a Haematology Consultant at the European Institute of Oncology, Milan, Italy, where his clinical activity focused on haploidentical stem cell transplantation for high-risk leukaemia and relapsed or refractory lymphoma.
He then served as Haematology Consultant at King’s College Hospital, and Senior Lecturer in haematology at King’s College London, United Kingdom, before taking up his current role as Associate Professor in Haematology at the University of Brescia and Spedali Civili di Brescia, Italy.
He has served as Principal Investigator and sub-Principal Investigator in multiple industry-sponsored and academic studies. His research grants have supported work on steroid-refractory GVHD, chronic GVHD burden in England, and educational content on conditioning regimens.
Prof. Avenoso is Director of the Specialty Training Programme in Haematology at the University of Brescia, Italy. He has contributed to haematology teaching for specialty trainees and medical students and has been involved in EBMT’s Chimera e-learning platform with educational content on conditioning regimens. He is the founder and one of the Chairs of the King’s CML Academy, has organised educational events on AML, has served as a scientific board member for the annual GIIMA association conference, and has chaired EBMT symposia on GVHD and conditioning.
