Dr. Lowe got her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB B Chir) from the University of Cambridge, UK in 2002. She trained in general medicine in Norfolk, Newcastle and Manchester and passed MRCP (UK) in July 2006. In November 2006, she became a Specialist Registrar in Haematology at West Midlands Deanery, UK. During her Specialist Registrar training she completed a PhD in inherited platelet disorders. She has been a consultant at University Hospitals, Birmingham since 2015 and specializes in disorders of haemostasis and thrombosis. She has ongoing involvement with the Birmingham Platelet Group and is a trustee of the Platelet Society and on the Executive Committee of the UK ITP Forum. She is also the regional Haematology NIHR lead for the West Midlands Local Clinical Research Network (LCRN). She has an interest in clinical research, and has several publications in the medical field and has built a research team in her workplace. She has organized several educational meetings, including events targeted specifically at patients and their families, and those for doctors in training.
