Dr. Giuseppe Barone is a Consultant Paediatric Oncologist, Neuroblastoma Clinical Lead, and Apheresis and Autograft Programme Medical Lead at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS in London. He subsequently undertook paediatric oncology fellowship training at Great Ormond Street Hospital and drug development training at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr. Barone’s career progressed from specialist paediatric oncology training in Italy to advanced fellowship and research roles in leading UK paediatric oncology and cancer research institutions. He held clinical and research appointments at Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, and The Institute of Cancer Research before transitioning into a substantive consultant role at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. He currently serves as Consultant Paediatric Oncologist, Neuroblastoma Clinical Lead, and Apheresis and Autograft Programme Medical Lead, and has advanced into senior directorate leadership as Deputy Chief of Service within the Blood, Cell and Cancer Directorate.
Dr. Barone is an internationally recognized clinician scientist with leadership in early-phase, biomarker-driven, and phase II clinical trials for high-risk and relapsed neuroblastoma. His research training includes an early-phase oncology clinical trials fellowship at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, USA, and a PhD in Molecular Biology and Cancer Therapeutics from The Institute of Cancer Research in London. His principal investigator roles include major neuroblastoma and paediatric oncology studies. His clinically relevant research activity spans molecular profiling, immunotherapy, resistance biology, precision oncology, and early drug development, supported by peer-reviewed publications in major oncology and translational medicine journals.
Through his investigator roles, programme leadership, and publication activity, he contributes to multidisciplinary clinical decision-making, evidence generation, and the development of paediatric oncology practice in a tertiary specialist setting.
